A Panel Discussion on Protecting the Vulnerable Amidst Expanding Euthanasia in Canada
MP Garnett Genuis is pleased to invite you to 'No Same-Day Death', an online event during which we will hear from four exceptional panelists on the substantial issues with the government's recently proposed euthanasia legislation (Bill C-7).
The new law would bring us:
- Same Day Death – the possibility to receive death on the same day a person requests it
- Death Without Contemporaneous Consent – a situation where people will have their lives taken without being consulted in the moment
- Death Without Two Independent Witnesses – creating countless possibilities for abuses
Death by euthanasia is increasing at an alarming rate in Canada. Same-day death, death without contemporaneous consent, and death without multiple independent witnesses are moving us in a dangerous direction that will leave even more people vulnerable.
After introductory remarks by MP Garnett Genuis, you'll get the chance to hear from and pose questions to four exceptional panelists:
- Heidi Janz - on communication and consent
- Charles Lewis - on the slippery slope and what's coming next
- Taylor Hyatt - on the need for holistic support for persons with disabilities
- Nolan Toscano - on insights and lessons from long-term care
Panelists will present from 4:00-4:30 p.m. EST.
An optional Q and A session from 4:30-5:00 p.m. EST will follow the presentations.
